According to the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office spokesperson Kim Myers, CPSO will participate in the national crackdown on drunk driving. A grant from the Louisiana Highway Safety Commission makes it all possible.

“Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” is a 20-day campaign that kicked off on August 21 and ends September 7. The campaign is a partnership between the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) to "curb impaired driving and save lives,” said the CPSO press release.

“Research has shown that high-visibility enforcement like ‘Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over’ campaign reduces drunk driving fatalities by as much as 20 percent. By joining this nationwide effort, we will make Calcasieu Parish roadways safer for everyone,” said Calcasieu Sheriff Tony Mancuso.

Expect increased checkpoints and officers on the roads of Southwest Louisiana to aid in reducing impaired driving. If you obey the law, then you have nothing to worry about. It’s simple, DRIVE SOBER.
