The "Star Wars" reboot needed just 20 days to pass the $760.5 million grossed by 2009's "Avatar," which still holds the worldwide box office record of $2.78 billion.

I'm glad this is finally happening, not so much because I hate Avatar or Titanic. Star Wars is America's most popular brand when it comes to movies so it makes sense for one of the movies in the franchise to have the number one spot all-time domestically.

Interesting fact? Adjusted for inflation The Force Awakens is the 21st highest grossing film of all time. Gone with the Wind still holds the #1 spot with a total adjusted box office of $1.7 billion, according to Box Office Mojo.
