Tim McGraw is one of Louisiana’s favorite exports — the state is incredible proud of the Delhi, La.-born country music icon. So when McGraw rolled into New Orleans for a gig on Friday, Aug. 3, his fellows statesmen decided to do a surprise induction for him into the Louisiana Music Hall of Fame.

McGraw was surprised on stage at the Superdome in New Orleans for the impromptu “ceremony” of sorts. During the middle of the set, Louisiana Music Hall of Fame President Mike Shepherd “interrupted” in order to present the ‘Truck Yeah’ hitmaker with a custom plaque honoring him for his contribution to Louisiana’s rich musical heritage.

What a huge high-five for McGraw, to receive that honor right in front of a home state crowd which loves him dearly. The singer joins an illustrious group of Louisiana artists in the Hall of Fame, including Louis Armstrong, Jerry Lee Lewis, Dr. John and more.

As McGraw is still embroiled in a bitter lawsuit with his former label Curb Records, an event like this certainly brings a bit of levity and lightness into his life. You done good, Tim.
