Last Friday, October 17th we held our 3rd Annual Golf Classic at the Contraband Bayou Golf Course at L'Auberge Casino resort presented by the American Press.  It was a beautiful day for a round of golf and we saw golfers come out in droves to support our tournament and the Mayor's Armed Forces Commission for local veterans in Southwest Louisiana!

The morning started off with all the teams of golfers checking in and warming up on the driving range and putting greens. We gathered all the players together and announced the rules and sent them off to have a fun filled day.

During the tournament, there was a series of different things the golfers could win like a 2014 Buick Enclave from Allstar Buick GMC in Sulphur for making a hole in one on the Par three #8 hole. Well folks, one golfer almost did just that! Mitch McFatter stepped up to the 8th hole tee box, hit his shot which hit the pin and almost went in!  The ball ended up around 18 inches away from the hole!  Wow so close!

Then on the Par three #11 hole, one golfer in the tournament had the chance to get closest to the hole.  The player who did so then qualified for a Million dollar shot.  Welltrue to form , the same golfer who almost won the car, Mitch McFatter, was closest to the hole with a distance of one foot and one half inch.  He qualifies to take the shot for $1 million dollars at the end of the tournament.  After all the teams were through with there round, we had all the teams come out to the 9th hole to watch Mitch take the shot for a million bucks!

We had a closest to the hole contests on two other holes sponsored by First Federal Bank of Louisiana.

Those winners included:

Jamie McGee with a shot of 27 feet 2 inches on hole #4

Ryan Davis with a shot of 8 feet 2 inches on hole #13

Each received a goody bag from First Federal Bank of Louisiana which included a dozen Titleist golf balls, golf towels, sunglasses and sports bottles.
