Saturday's festival (Dec. 1) will feature the annual Christmas parade through downtown, an arts and crafts show and a giant bonfire, but also has the traditional gumbo cook-off at the Louisiana Oil and Gas Park off exit 64 on Interstate 10. The Travel Channel will be there as part of a special detail different Christmas traditions from across America.  The only problem is that there's no telling when the show will air.  In an interview with the Lake Charles American Press, producers said the show may not even air this year.

The show, which will also feature a parade in New Mexico and Trappist monks in Missouri making fruitcakes for the holidays, has a tentative working title of “Cross Country Christmas ... No air date has been set, but it is not likely to air this year...”

Jennings officials are seeking more entrants for the gumbo cook-off to help crowd the park for the TV crews, so if you think your gumbo can make the crowd yell "Poo-yie!" then enter the contest by emailing City Coordinator Michelle Hebert michelle@cityofjennings.com or tuppermuseum@bellsouth.net.  You can also call her at (337) 821-5532.
