What color shirts can my kid wear to school? Do the socks have to be a certain color? Can he or she wear shorts? What types of pants can I buy? Has the uniform policy changed since last year?

When parents walk into stores that offer uniforms, the rainbow of colors can be confusing. Uniforms make getting ready for school easier, but preparing for school can be a challenge if you don't know exactly what colors are allowed.

Jeff Davis Parish Schools have amended their uniform code to include more colors for the 2018-19 academic year, and Beauregard Parish Schools have also revised their policy.

If you are the parent of a student going to school for the first time, you need to be aware of what is allowed or not. If you are the parent of a middle or high school student, you need to be especially aware because those young people can't resist pushing the proverbial envelope.

Below are links to the uniform policies for the five parish school districts in southwest Louisiana. If you live in Allen Parish, select the school your child attends to see the codes.
