Country music superstar and the man with the smooth but high pitched voice, Vince Gill, is celebrating his birthday today. The country crooner was born on this day in Norman, Oklahoma in 1957.

Vince Gill has big roots in not only country music, but also bluegrass. A lot of people don't know this, but Vince started his career as the front man for the band Pure Prairie League in the 1970s. In 1983, Vince decided to go out on his own as a solo artist.

Since then, Gill has released over 20 albums, has more than 40 singles released, and has sold over 26 million records. Gill also has 20 Grammy awards to his credit, and has also won several Entertainer of the Year awards for the ACMs and CMAs.

Vince Gill has had 8 number one hits to his credit. I think my favorite song by Vince is "When I call your name", which only reached number two on the charts.

We also have learned that Vince Gill will be in concert here in Lake Charles on August 19th, at the Golden Nugget casino in Lake Charles. Happy Birthday Vince!
