Nola Mae Ross was a wonderful lady that had so many friends here in Southwest Louisiana. I am so very proud to have been one of them. She's a native of this area and a noted author and historian  who wrote all about Southwest Louisiana. Hurricanes, crimes, and so much history from Jean LaFitte to governors. In her book about local crimes she writes about the legendary Toni Jo Henry and her crime spree and a movie about Toni Jo just opened this past weekend. Nola Mae authored 28 books all with a local flair. She was also a pilot at age 22. Her family owned McFillin Air Park which is where my brother and I both took flying lessons. I had the honor of interviewing her several times and have several of her books that she gave me and still enjoy reading and learning from them. Ms Nola Mae Ross died Monday at the age of 87. Funeral arrangements are pending.
