After they've finished drooling over your perfect profile pic, your potential online suitor will probably shift their gaze to the "occupation" line of your profile.

I'm not trying to be the bearer of bad news, but that little part of your online dating profile that says "occupation" can make or break whether someone decides to make the first move. Is it the most important thing? Of course not. However, there are just some jobs out there that make people seem a little more attractive.

I promise I'm not trying to be shallow. I'm just telling it like it is. I mean, let's be honest, "radio DJ" does not scream "date me" so, really, who am I to judge? But some people do judge, so why not get a little insight into what they are looking for.

According to indy100, these are the five most attractive occupations:

Men

  • Entrepreneur
  • Lawyer
  • Designer
  • Architect
  • Property developer

Women

  • Marketing manager
  • Lawyer
  • PR executive
  • Teacher
  • Designer

Ok, this list seems pretty legit. Who wouldn't want to date a lawyer? I only have one question: what even is an entrepreneur? If someone told me they were an entrepreneur, I would just stare at them, because I kind of feel like that's a bogus answer.

By definition, an entrepreneur is someone who "organizes and operates a business or businesses, taking on greater than normal financial risks in order to do so", uhhh to me that sounds like a fancy way of saying you are "trying to start up a business, but are currently living in your parents basement". And I am not saying that's a bad thing. Go for your dreams, start a business, but don't try to make yourself fancy by calling yourself an entrepreneur. Unless you are Mark Cuban or one of the people on Shark Tank, do not call yourself an entrepreneur.

All right, my entrepreneur rant is over. But you can check out the full list of occupations that will land you a date on the indy100 website.
