The City of Lake Charles is set to kick-off the 21st annual Downtown at Sundown on Friday, May 17, 2019, with four consecutive Fridays packed with events from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., with the Calcasieu Cajun Ramblers on May 17; Terrance Simien and the Zydeco Experience on May 24; Bluesiana RED on May 31; and the series wraps up with The Tugboats on June 7.

Downtown at Sundown will take place in the 1000 block of Ryan Street in front of 1911, Historic City Hall, and the Parish Courthouse. This year’s event is supported entirely by corporate sponsorships, with all beverage sales benefiting the literacy council of SWLA.

“Every year, Downtown at Sundown brings thousands of residents and visitors to experience Downtown Lake Charles as a thriving urban community,” said Mayor Nic Hunter. “We have added some additional crowd entertainment and outdoor lighting this year that is sure to thrill residents.”

There will be food, beverages, children’s activities, tabletop art galleries, merchandise vendors, and a variety of music. Lawn chairs are welcome; however, ice coolers and pets are prohibited. In case of rain, the concerts will take place inside the Lake Charles Civic Center, said a media release.
