The timing of this front is also a blessing to Louisiana as it will help steer Hurricane Helene away from us as it's predicted to become a major category 3 hurricane by landfall.

If you've been waiting patiently for cooler says here in SWLA, the forecast is calling for lows in the mornings in the lower to middle 60s and highs in the mid 80s.  It will also be bringing some drier air to SWLA which won't make it feel so hot during the day.

The front will start rolling through Louisiana tomorrow bringing rain with it, but after Wednesday the cooler temperatures arrive with sunny days and clear skies.

Here's your five day forecast for this week:

  • Wednesday - A 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly after 1pm. Mostly sunny, with a high near 88. Northeast wind 5 to 10 mph.
  • Wednesday Night - Mostly clear, with a low around 66. North wind 5 to 10 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph.
  • Thursday - Sunny, with a high near 83. North wind 10 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph.
  • Thursday Night - Clear, with a low around 63. West wind around 5 mph.
  • Friday - Sunny, with a high near 85. West wind 5 to 10 mph.
  • Friday Night - Mostly clear, with a low around 66. West wind around 5 mph.
  • Saturday - Sunny, with a high near 86. West wind around 5 mph.
  • Saturday Night - Mostly clear, with a low around 67.
  • Sunday - Sunny, with a high near 88.
  • Sunday Night - Mostly clear, with a low around 68.
