Recently rumors have been swirling around on the internet that the popular retailer would be switching to a membership only model in 2025 and was grooming their customers for the switch with new membership plans they are now offering at their stores.
ABC News reported that Target is looking into ways to stop their decline in revenue, and that paid memberships will be the company's main weapon to combat the loss.
Entrepreneur recently reported that Target's plan is called "Project Trident" and it includes three tiers of membership: Target Circle, Target Circle Card, and Target 360.
The article also put the rumors to bed about Target switching their stores to a membership only model. Entrepreneur says that the different membership plans are similar to Walmart+, Amazon Prime, Kroger Boost, and others that offer their customers exclusive discounts, deals, and perks.
So, Target customers can go ahead and breathe out a collectively sigh of relief, the rumors aren't true.
