(KHLA - Lake Charles, Louisiana) - A McNeese student says he was inspired to start a Turning Point USA (TPUSA) chapter at McNeese after the assassination of Charlie Kirk.

The nonprofit group called Turning Point USA promotes conservative views on college, university, and high school campuses. Charlie Kirk and Bill Montgomery created it in 2012.

McNeese Engineering student Kayden Dailey told KPLC that he signed up at the TPUSA website after viewing Kirk being shot after a conversation with his dad:

It was that night that I sat on my couch and talked to my dad about it. I looked up the Turning Point USA Website, and I registered McNeese to get a chapter.

Dailey went on to say that the new McNeese TPUSA chapter will host friendly debates and conversations on campus as well as bring in Turning Point approved guest speakers to events.

Their first event will be a campus recruiting event on November 6.
