This disturbance could start to impact the Gulf of Mexico as soon as this Friday, August 9th.

Extreme Gulf Weather Specialist Meteorologist Zack Fradella thinks that the tropical disturbance will start to organize and strengthen as it gets closer to the Yucatán Peninsula and currently he believes the storm will track south and make landfall in either Mexico or southern Texas.

He also says that a strong front will be dropping into the Gulf Coast region this weekend which will also help steer the storm well southwest of Louisiana.

However, as we have seen in the past, we should never take our eyes off storms in the Gulf until they have made landfall. Even though hurricane forecasters are really good at their job, Mother Nature has the final say where a storm goes.
