Will The Next Tropical Disturbance Threaten Texas?

The Atlantic Ocean is starting to open up this hurricane season, and there is a tropical disturbance right behind Hurricane Debby heading for the Gulf of Mexico. Will this storm threaten Texas?  We have all the details.

While we are days out from knowing if this tropical disturbance will form into an organized storm, it's important to always be aware of the possible threats in the Atlantic Ocean during the height of the hurricane season.

This disturbance could start to impact the Gulf of Mexico as soon as this Friday, August 9th.
Extreme Gulf Weather Specialist Meteorologist Zack Fradella thinks that the tropical disturbance will have a hard time organizing and gaining strength with Debby hanging around.  From his graphic below it looks like he also believes that the force of Debby will keep the storm well south of Texas and after making landfall in the Yucatan it will continue heading into middle Mexico.

He also says that a strong front will be dropping into the Gulf Coast region this weekend which will also help steer the storm well south of the Texas coast.

However, as we have seen in the past, we should never take our eyes off storms in the Gulf until they have made landfall. Even though hurricane forecasters are really good at their job, Mother Nature has the final say where a storm goes.
