It's an all SWLA State baseball final this year as the Barbe Bucs and the Sam Houston Broncos will face off tonight for the 5-A state baseball championship.

The McNeese State Cowboys have broke the four and four streak with their fifth win in a row. Yesterday the Cowboys beat Sam Houston State 5-2 in Huntsville.

The Cowboys Baseball Season has been a series of fours. They won the first four games. They lost the next four and have now won their last four. Can they stop this madness and win their next game?

I still say the Sam Houston Bearkats team this year is a lot better than some thought they would be. The McNeese loss in Huntsville last Saturday to the Bearkats has dropped the Pokes out of the top ten in both FCS polls.

McNeese was simply beat on both sides of the ball at Sam Houston and took a 38-22 loss. LSU won 30-27 at Florida with a last second field goal. The Bearkats marched right down the field on their first possession and put it in the end zone...

While a lot are questioning how bad this year's LSU Tigers and New Orleans Saints are ... they are also wondering how good this year's Cowboys football team really is. Can they compete for the national championship?

Football fans love this time of year. Everybody's favorite team has a shot at the title. Everyone is undefeated right now and the hype is huge. We'll start with high school action.

Their students proved that Sam Houston High had the most school spirit in 2012 -- and now it's time for their reward!

With 160,601 votes cast, it’s fair to say that the first Lake Area School Spirit Contest was a success.  While it was awesome to see so many votes go to support our students, our hats are off to the winners — Sam Houston High in Moss Bluff, who collared 47 percent of the vote, beating out seven other schools.

You voted -- and man, did you ever vote. Over 160,000 votes were cast over a two-week period to figure out which Lake Area school has the greatest school spirit. So it's the question everyone wants answered -- who won?
