Thirty Six years ago today, Waylon Jennings scored a number one hit on the country music charts for the theme song for "The Dukes Of Hazard" (Good Ol' Boys).

One of my favorite classic country artist would have celebrated his birthday. The iconic Waylon Jennings would have turned 79 today.

We love you, America!

Ok so I'm feeling a little nostalgic so let's go to Luckenbach, Texas with Waylon and if you've never been there, go in the Spring and see the Bluebonnets and the beautiful Texas Hill Country.

I hadn't even heard about this story when Waylon was scheduled to be on Tom Snyder's tv show. I never liked Snyder and always thought he was a jerk. I always loved Waylon and he apparently agreed with me.

My favorite singer from the outlaw era was Waylon Jennings.Heck, I was a Waylon fan before he was an outlaw.I loved his music, his voice, yes, and even some of his friends.  And then of coarse when he came out singing the theme from "Dukes of Hazzard"  and was also the voice of the show, he became everybody's favorite...

In February, we reported that legendary country outlaw Waylon Jennings‘ family had determined to celebrate the singer’s life and career with a new album of primarily unreleased material. This week, the release date and track listing of ‘Goin’ Down Rockin’: The Last Recordings’ was finally announced. Due out September 11, 2012, the record will feature 12 songs, 11 of which Jennings wrote.
