We know it's only December but before you know it, the Louisiana Festival season will be getting underway not to mention Mardi Gras. One of the first festivals that comes your way in Southwest Louisiana is the Louisiana Fur & Wildlife Festival which takes place in January every year.

Louisiana Fur & Wildlife Festival also known as The Oldest And Coldest Festival takes place in Cameron, Louisiana every January and was started way back in 1955 by late Congressman T. A. Thompson who represented the area and a small group of people met during the summer of 1955 in the old Police Jury meeting room in the Cameron Courthouse Building to make plans for the first festival.
