I went to a catholic school from Kindergarten to 8th grade, St. Mary's Catholic School in Orange, Texas.  The last two years I was there (7th and 8th grade) I was required to wear a uniform....ARGH.  Plaid knee skirts (it HAD to touch the knee cap), white knee socks (they HAD to touch AT the knee), white button oxford blouse, and a navy cardigan during the winter.  I even had to wear khaki, black, or navy shoes.  Not cool at all.

Sister Aquinas was a stickler for the dress code.  If my skirt was above my knees, I was in trouble.  If I wore too much lip gloss, trouble.  How could I wear too much lip gloss??? LIP GLOSS IS CLEAR!  And, don't get me started on my favorite blue/pink eye shadow combination.  It was the 80's, EVERYONE wore blue/pink eye shadow.  Not this girl.  Neutral colors, and only 8th grade girls were allowed to wear eye shadow (I snuck it on after religion class so Sister would not catch me).  If only I had options......

Brilliant ideas for jazzing up a school uniform: scarfs, shoes, earrings, and cardigans that are fashionable but not distracting.  Where was this when I was in 8th grade?  Can I spruce up my work wardrobe this way?  I am going to try it, maybe I can get away with that rainbow scarf....or flowered head band.
