Happy Birthday Kris Kristofferson!  Born in Brownsville, Texas, Kris began his career as a singer/songwriter.  Have you heard a little tune called "Me and Bobby McGee"? Yep, Kris wrote it for a little known singer at the time, Janis Joplin.  With many songs under his belt, such as For the Good Times", "Sunday Mornin' Comin' Down", Kris made himself known in the songwriter circles, eventually delving into acting, were he reached acclaimed status in the 80's.

Forming the supergroup "The Highwaymen" with Waylon Jennings, Johnny Cash and Willie Nelson, Kris enjoyed writing songs for his friends, and singing live with his fans.  Recalling the 60's, Kris has often said "nothing could kill me", reminiscing about his "wild" days rolling cards, drag racing, drinking, and doing everything he could do to "die early".

Kris is a Country Music Hall of Famer, a Golden Glove boxer, a Rhodes Scholar, college football player, Grammy winner, military officer and helicopter pilot, and actor; and, he isn't stopping. “God Almighty, here I am,” he sings. “Am I where I ought to be? I’ve begun to soon descend, like the sun into the sea/ And I thank my lucky stars, from here to eternity/ For the artist that You are/ And the man you made of me.” (Feeling Mortal album).

Why we love him?  Easy on the eyes, of course, and he has shared his life with us.  Giving a piece of his heart, with each lyric he records; he is family.
