Thanksgiving is next week and that means trips to the grocery store to get the turkeys, hams, and all the fixings for that big Thanksgiving meal. Whether you are cooking for a small group or a massive gathering of friends and family, one thing is for sure, your trash cans will fill up fast.

The city of Lake Charles has announced that they will be observing the Thanksgiving holiday and all their offices and services will be shut down that day. So with that news, that also means that if you live in Lake Charles and get your trash picked up on Thursdays, this Thursday, November 23 which is Thanksgiving, your trash will not be picked up that day.

Kattie Harrington with the city of Lake Charles gave us the new schedule of trash pickup times to pass along to you and your family. She said,

Trash and garbage regularly scheduled for pickup on Thursday will be rescheduled for pickup on Friday, November 24, 2023.

Trash and garbage regularly scheduled for pickup on Friday will be rescheduled for Saturday, November 25, 2023.

The Team Green Recycling Truck and all Recycling stations, including the Wood Waste Facility and the Nelson Ball Field (Alma Lane) will be closed on Thursday, November 23, 2023. They will resume regular hours on Friday, November 24, 2023.

Also, a friendly reminder to have your trash cans out by the road no later than 7:00 a.m. on the day your trash is scheduled to be picked up and you are also reminded to take your empty can in by 7:00 p.m. that same day your trash is empty by the city.
