After finishing 9-9 in the Southeastern Conference, LSU is now 17-15 overall, while North Texas is 18-14 and 10-8 in the American Athletic Conference. As the top automatic qualifier from the SEC, LSU was ranked fourth in the eight-team Seton Hall tournament.

Strangely, this first-round matchup is a rematch of the Charleston Classic game that LSU won 66-62 on Friday, November 17. Will Baker scored 16 points for LSU, Derek Fountain scored 14 (going 6 of 6 from the field), and Jordan Wright scored 12.

LSU has participated in the NIT nine times in its history, and this is the fourth time the school has hosted a game during the postseason NIT. When the Tigers participated in the tournament for the first time in 2018, they made it to the second round.

Last year, North Texas won the NIT after defeating UAB in the championship game.

The winner of Wednesday's first-round match between Seton Hall and Saint Joseph's will face the victor of the LSU-North Texas contest. It would be a Saturday or Sunday match, and LSU would travel to play that game.

All LSU vs. North Texas tickets are general admission.  Adult tickets cost $20, while youth tickets cost $10. The first 1,500 LSU applicants will get free admission. You can watch the game on the SEC Network tonight at 6:00.
