For the second time in since becoming D1, the McNeese Cowboys have improved to 4-0 to start a basketball season. The last time this feat was accomplished was back in November of 1972. The Cowboys are now 4-0 to start the season after an 81-49 win over LeTourneau on Tuesday night in front of 1,924 fans.

It means a lot. For a lot of us, it's our first time here at McNeese, so we're all coming together. To accomplish that is a big deal to us. - Omar Cooper after the Win on Tuesday

Omar Cooper was a spark off of the bench for the Cowboys as he came in to score 14 points while dishing out five assists and collecting six steals.

Shahada Wells paced with 11 points and Christian Shumate finished the matchup with 11 points and 10 rebounds. That performance from Shumate would record his 3rd double-double of the year and the 24th in his career. The school record is 31.

The Yellowjackets came in playing an aggressive style of Defense through the first 10 minutes of the half and were able to knock down a few big shots from behind the arc. At the 8-minute mark of the First Half, the Cowboys led just 21-19 against a scrappy YellowJackets team with 8:47 to play in the half. The Cowboys would then go on a 16-0 run to get closer to the half. Cowboys would lead 44-27 at the break.

The McNeese Cowboys would eventually roll to an 81-49 win over LeTourneau. Walker Blaine led the YellowJackets with 14 points.

This is the first time the Cowboys have started a season 4-0 in 51 years. McNeese will face a big stretch of games to round out November.
