Pair Of Louisiana Bands Brought Home Awards During The 2024 Grammy’s

How cool is this?! Not one, but TWO Louisiana Bands brought home Grammy Awards during the 2024 Grammy's. For just the 33rd time in Grammy history, there was a tie, and it just so happened to be between two Louisiana bands...

For their projects "Live: Orpheum Theater Nola" and "New Beginnings," Buckwheat Zydeco, Jr. and the Legendary Ils Sont Partis Band and Lost Bayou Ramblers with the Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra were chosen winners in the Best Regional Roots Music category.

This year for the Best Regional Roots Music category, all six Regional Roots nominees happened to be Louisiana-based. The nominees also included Dwayne Dopsie & the Zydeco Hellraisers, the New Breed Brass Band, the New Orleans Nightcrawlers, and The Rumble with Chief Joseph Boudreaux Jr.,

Who are the Lost Bayou Ramblers?

The Lost Bayou Ramblers has become a perversely progressive Cajun band that keeps surprising, challenging, and redefining expectations in the genre. LBR was founded in 1999 by brothers Andre and Louis Michot.

In the last five years, the band has toured with Arcade Fire and the Violent Femmes. The Band also scored a feature on Jack White's American Epic, and received a Grammy award for their most recent album, "Kalenda." By occupying the space between Cajun and Creole, tradition and creativity, mystery and revelation, and experimentation and growth to become the spectacle that it is today, Lost Bayou Ramblers sits at the intersection of Louisiana culture.
