UPDATE: Search for Missing UL Lafayette Student Mickey Shunick Goes Statewide — As Does $25,000 Reward
May 23, 2012 9:40 AM UPDATE: The reward was upped to $25,000 Wednesday afternoon. Also, the tips line to Lafayette Police has changed.
She turned 22 yesterday, but she wasn’t able to share it with her friends. She missed her brother’s graduation. Michaela “Mickey” Shunick of Lafayette has been missing since Saturday night, and the search for her is growing wider and wider.
As it says in the poster above, Shunick was riding home on her bike Saturday night and never made it home. Tuesday night, during a candlelight vigil prayer service for her at Lafayette’s Parc Sans Souci, more private donors pitched in to raise the reward for information leading to her recovery to $25,000.
A dedicated group of volunteers has spent the past four days scouring the streets of Lafayette and surrounding areas looking for her. The FBI has gotten involved, and Shunick’s case has made headlines nationwide, from The Huffington Post to ABC News.
