Where in Louisiana are people drinking the most? It appears that we are aware of the parishes with the highest rates of alcohol use in 2024.

A NCSolutions survey indicates that 41% of Americans want to cut back on their alcohol use this year. People who actually enjoy the taste of some alcoholic beverages will find it easier than ever to switch thanks to the increasing number of non-alcoholic options available on the market. Naturally, the first step is to engage in mindful drinking, which NCSolutions defines as "being mindful of how many drinks you're having, how often you're drinking, and how long you're drinking."

According to the CDC, binge drinking occurs when a man has five drinks or more in a single occasion, and four drinks or more for women. Heavy drinking is defined as eight or more drinks for women or fifteen or more for males per week. Both have a role in binge drinking.

The 2024 County Health Rankings and Roadmaps report, published earlier this year by the University of Wisconsin Population Health Institute, aims to increase public understanding of the variables that can affect health outcomes and inequities across the country. Researchers used self-reported data from the Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance system of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to calculate the rates of excessive drinking by state.
