It feels like we are repeating 2020. I specifically remember sitting at my desk where I am typing this from, watching the Houston Rodeo get canceled live on TV, the tickets in my hand instantly turning into a notepad within seconds. Fox26 in Houston picked up the story about the cancellation for 2021 just hours ago. CEO, Chris Boleman, made the official announcement confirming all activities for the rodeo are canceled for the 2021 season.

It was moved in the 2021 season with the hope that the pandemic would have subsided by now. The new date was set for May 2021. Rodeo Houston posted Boleman on their Twitter account as he took the podium to make the devastating announcement.

Boleman mentioned the rodeo worked every possible way to make sure it went on, but just couldn't make it happen for the season. He assured everyone the tradition of scholarships continued from the rodeo, with donations to the youth of Texas exceeding $21 million. Although the rodeo is canceled, the Junior Livestock and Horse Show events will still continue as scheduled in March.
