2025 Atlantic Hurricane Names Have Been Released
We know it's only February and hurricane season is a few months away but it is always good to start thinking about it early. Here in South Louisiana, we have to be on top of our game when it comes to hurricane season because we have seen our fair share of storms over the past few years.
Who can forget back in 2020 when Southwest Louisiana got not one but two hurricanes in six weeks? Hurricane Laura hit us with complete devastation and six weeks later Hurricane Delta came in and finished the job. The city of Lake Charles and most of Southwest Louisiana were out of power and essential needs for over 30 to 40 days. That was a rough time.
In 2024, 18 tropical depressions formed with 11 of them turning into hurricanes with five of them becoming major hurricanes. Hurricane Francine last year hit Southeast Louisiana in Terrebonne parish which is a little too close for comfort for us here in Southwest Louisiana. That is why here in Louisiana living by the Gulf, we all have to be vigilant and watch the weather and have our plan of action in place.
In less than four short months, the 2025 Hurricane season will begin starting June 1st and run through November 30th. Let's hope for a less active 2025 season. With that being said, The National Hurricane Center has released the names for the 2025 season.
