Film Showcase Brings Movies and More to Lake Charles
KNGT | Lake Charles, LA — If you’ve ever thought about making a movie… or maybe you already are… listen up, because this is pretty cool right here in Lake Charles.
I got to visit with Skylar McMillian, and he’s fired up about something big coming to Southwest Louisiana. Him and his team over at Storytaler Studios LLC are putting together the very first Storytaler Showcase Event… and it’s happening right here at home!
What to expect at the Storytaler Showcase
This whole thing is going down at ACTS Theatre, and it’s built for folks who love movies, love storytelling, or just wanna see something different for a night out. We’re talking about a full 3-hour event packed with independent films. Not the big Hollywood stuff… real stories, real people, real creativity. The kind of films that hit a little different, ya know?
They’re also doing live Q&A sessions with the filmmakers. That’s where it gets fun. You actually get to hear how these movies were made, what went wrong, what went right, and how these folks turned an idea into something on the big screen.
And if that ain’t enough… they’re premiering a brand new original short film right there at the event. First time anybody gets to see it. Plus, they’ll have food trucks set up, so you can grab something good to eat while you hang out and enjoy the night.
If you are a Film Maker in the area, and would like to submit a film, follow the link HERE for more information.
What I really like about this is it’s not just for filmmakers. It’s for all of us. It gives local talent a spotlight, and it gives the community something new to be proud of. Southwest Louisiana has a lot of creative folks. Sometimes they just need a place to show it. So if you’ve ever picked up a camera… wrote a script… or just love watching a good story unfold, this is one of those events you don’t wanna miss.
Mark it down… May 30th. Free show. Local talent. Right here at home.
