(KNGT-FM) - There's nothing worse than walking into a hotel and thinking, "Man, we should've just slept in the car." A popular hotel chain in America has just been named one of the dirtiest hotels in the country, and there are over 200 locations in Louisiana and Texas.

When booking a hotel, what are a few things you look for when staying the night out of town?

For me, the first thing I look for is cleanliness. If recent reviews mention weird smells or stained sheets, I’m out. Good reviews are necessary, especially when multiple people mention the same problems. Free breakfast is a bonus, because nothing starts the day like a make-your-own waffle. And of course, the price has to be right. A deal’s great, but not if the room looks like it hasn’t been cleaned since 2009.

That might shock some folks, especially since they’re part of the Hilton family and are usually seen as a solid, affordable place to stay. But according to guest reviews and ratings, these hotels have some serious problems when it comes to keeping things clean.

What makes this more important for people in our area is how many Hampton locations exist here. There are over 90 Hampton Hotels in Louisiana and more than 200 in Texas. That means this hotel chain is all over the place in cities like Baton Rouge, Lake Charles, Houston, and Dallas.
