So far the Saints have been very defensive minded when signing free agents. It's almost like they know the defense is going to be decimated when we learn of the players to be punished because oif the bounty issue.

The Saints have aquired two linebackers in free agency this year. Do you think they are anticipating losing Johnathan Vilma for the season. It sure looks that way. Signing Curtis Lofton could be a pre-emtive move to stableize the center of the defense if Vilma is gone.

The Saints also signed another linebacker (Chris Chamberlain).

The tell all hint will be if Sedrick Ellis is sanctioned. The Saints also picked up DT Brodrick Bunkley.

He could have been signed to replace a sanctioned Ellis. If the Saints sign a safety or corner back we will all know they have been trying to plug holes in advance of the sanctions. This would be smart. Think about it. When before have the Saints used all of their free agent money on defense? I think the answer is never. So the question is "why now"?. The answer looks pretty simple to me.
