Dwayne Johnson’s HBO ‘Ballers’ Heads to LA in Season 3 Trailer

Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson may have cratered on the Florida beaches, but there’s always Los Angeles. That’s where HBO’s Ballers aims to take us in Season 3, as the Miami sports drama expands globally with a first full trailer.

Ahead of its July 23 premiere, Ballers released a first official teaser-trailer highlighting Spencer Strasmore (Johnson)’s aim to take the business outside of Miami. In reality, the third season moved to California after Florida’s film and television tax incentives program expired last year. The last of the programming funds went to Ballers Season 2 and Netflix’s Bloodline, which itself ended after only three seasons.

Produced by Johnson and Entourage heads Mark Wahlberg and Stephen Levinson, the half-hour Ballers follow[ed] the lives of Miami-based active and retired athletes, Johnson among them. The series also stars Hot Tub Time Machine traveler Rob Corddry, Omar Benson Miller, John David Washington, Troy Garity, Donovan Carter, Jazmyn Simon, Taylor Cole and LeToya Luckett.

Ballers will return Sunday, July 23 at 10:00 P.M., followed by Insecure Season 2 at 10:30., both one week behind the Season 7 premiere of Game of Thrones. Stay tuned for more in the meantime.
