(KNGT-FM) - We are just a few weeks removed from the LSU Tigers capturing their 8th National Championship and a few Southwest Louisiana stars were at the forefront of the Championship.

Jake Brown and Ethan Frey played a major role throughout the entire season and during the postseason, whereas Gavin Guidry was sidelined due to an injury, but was still a part of the team during the season.

This weekend, fans will have an opportunity to meet Jake, Gavin, and a few of their other teammates at the Blue Boot Rodeo.

The Blue Boot Rodeo happens July 10 through 12 at the Tarpon Pavilion at Grand Isle Marina. It’s a weekend full of fishing, live music, kids’ activities, and local food. Best of all, it helps raise money to keep kids safe around water.

This event is put on by the Blue Boot Foundation, which gives out free life jackets to kids and teaches families about water safety. The group started in memory of Riley John Melancon, a young boy who drowned in 2019. Since then, the foundation has given away more than 2,300 life jackets and continues to spread water safety awareness.

The Blue Boot Rodeo isn't just for anglers. Families will love the Kid’s Coup Area featuring inflatables, games, face painting, and free life jackets for children under 12. All-day fun activities and food vendors help make the weekend a great time for everyone.

Admission is free, but rodeo participants will need to register. Registration includes entry into prize divisions, a plate lunch, and automatic entry into a grand prize drawing for a Kawasaki Mule PRO‑FXT 1000 LE.
