Cajun Weekend Weather Report: Triple-Digit Heat Index Is Back!

KNGT | Lake Charles, LA —  Alright y’all… welcome back to another Cajun Weekend Weather Report, and I got one question for you... Y'all got enough ice?

According to the Weather Channel, Southwest Louisiana is about to crank the thermostat up again. We're looking at another hot summer weekend with highs in the 90s, plenty of sunshine, and just enough afternoon storm chances to keep everybody guessing. In other words... it's a picture-perfect Louisiana summer.

Weather in Southwest Louisiana this Weekend

Friday
Friday is looking like the best day of the weekend. High around 94 degrees, partly sunny skies, and only about a 17% chance of rain.

Translation... Friday is probably your best day to get those honey-dos done, BUT, its gonna be Hot. Like, "the steering wheel burns your hands" hot. Like, "you start sweating before you finish locking the front door" hot. I say buy that extra bag of Ice for the cooler today.

Saturday
Saturday cools off... if you call 92 degrees cooling off. We'll see a little more cloud cover, and there's about a 30% chance of an afternoon thunderstorm. That's classic Louisiana weather. You can spend all morning outside having a great time, then around 3 o'clock you'll hear thunder rumbling off in the distance. The good news is these look like those quick summertime pop-up storms. They'll cool things off for a few minutes... then the humidity comes right back to remind you where you live.

Sunday
Sunday rounds out the weekend with a high near 90 degrees and the best chance of rain we've seen all weekend. Scattered afternoon thunderstorms are expected, but it doesn't look like an all-day washout. So if you've got outdoor plans, my advice is simple... Get an early start. The morning should be your friend. By the afternoon, keep one eye on the sky and the other on the radar.

Friday: Hot and sunny. Stay hydrated.
Saturday: Another hot day with a small chance of afternoon storms.
Sunday: Still hot, with a few more storms trying to crash the party.

Bottom line...its Louisiana, its gonna be hot, drink plenty of water, find some shade, and try to stay cool. And if you hear thunder... maybe take a break until it rolls through.
