We all have been getting weekly COVID-19 updates as Governor John Bel Edwards has been updating the residents of Louisiana on the latest on cases and executive orders.

Today, the Calcasieu Parish Police Jury has announced a COVID-19 briefing will take place at 3:00pm for the Calcasieu parish area. Local Calcasieu Parish and Lake Charles city officials will be updating the media and the public on the latest on the COVID-19 situation in our area.

To comply with state and federal social distancing guidelines, the public is invited to watch the briefing online.

As of yesterday's update on July 29, Louisiana has 112,773 total cases of coronavirus that have now been confirmed and 3,769 total deaths. In Calcasieu parish, there were nine new deaths reported and 101 new cases just yesterday. There is also still a mandatory mask order in effect for the whole state of Louisiana in all public places.
