Is your child fascinated with police officers, their patrol cars, or even police-based tv shows? Do you want them to learn good values, right from wrong, and how to handle themselves in certain situations?

If so, then this is a great event for you to get your child involved in. The Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office will be holding a Junior Deputy Academy Starting this Saturday, January 7th, 2023 in Sulphur, Louisiana.

The Junior Deputy Academy for children ages 11 to 14. What is this event all about? How does it benefit your child? The Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office said,

The program teaches children the importance of their roles as citizens in our community by teaching leadership skills and the value of teamwork. Attendees will also gain a better understanding of the various roles our CPSO deputies play in our community. The program encourages good moral character, integrity, and strong leadership.

The first event is this Saturday, January 7th, and runs for five consecutive Saturdays after that. Each week, they will learn about different aspects of the department. Here is the schedule of events and times.

January 7th -- Meet and Greet at 8:30 am then Dispatch from 9:00 am to 11:00 am

January 14th -- Patrol and K-9  from 9:00 am to 11:00 am

January 21st -- Detectives from 9:00 am to 11:00 am

January 28th -- FIU/Evidence from 9:00 am to 11:00 am

February 4th -- ACT Team/Marine and then graduation from 9:00 am to 11:30 am

The Junior Deputy Academy will take place at the Sulphur High School 9th grade campus, located at 600 Willow Avenue in Sulphur, Louisiana. A parent or guardian must attend all events.
