The fishing derby is scheduled for April 18, 2026, and the events will start at 7:30 am and run until 10:30 am. Participants and their families are invited to gather at the CPSO Farm Pond, located behind the Calcasieu Correctional Center at 5400 East Broad Street in Lake Charles.

This event has become a favorite for local families, offering kids a chance to experience the excitement of fishing while also building positive relationships with local law enforcement. Deputies and volunteers will be on hand throughout the morning to assist participants, answer questions, and ensure everyone has a great time.

Young anglers of all skill levels are encouraged to attend, whether they are seasoned fishermen or trying it out for the very first time. According to Kayla Vincent with the CPSO,

Participants will need to bring their own fishing gear, lawn chairs, a fan, and a cooler to bring their fish home.  Refreshments and bait will be provided. -CPSO K. Vincent
