The CPSO is participating in the “Buckle Up in Your Truck” campaign, which started on April 18th and runs until April 28th. The campaign, the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office, is a partnership with the Louisiana Highway Safety Commission, which is funding the grant money for this campaign.

Kayla Vincent with the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office filled us in on the date and timing of the checkpoint. She said,

In conjunction with this campaign, the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office will conduct a seatbelt checkpoint at an undisclosed location in the parish on Saturday, April 25.  This checkpoint will target people who are not wearing their seatbelts in pick-up trucks, as well as any other type of vehicle. -- Kayla Vincent, Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office

Now, of course, just because they are announcing it as a seatbelt checkpoint doesn't mean that they will not be looking for impaired drivers as well.

The rule of thumb is that if you are going out somewhere and are planning to have drinks, make sure you have a designated driver, get a taxi, or a ride share to be safe. Never get behind the wheel and on the road impaired.
