One of the oldest festivals in Southwest Louisiana began last night.  Formerly known as Contraband Days, the Louisiana Pirate Festival is four days of live music, food and fun.

Jean Lafitte and his band of pirates will take over the city tonight and make Lake Charles Mayor Nic Hunter walk the plank to begin the festival.

The festival runs today from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m.  Then Saturday the gates open at 8 a.m. until midnight and then on Sunday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Admission is free for all days and they have live entertainment all weekend.

Tonight at the outdoor pavilion will be Johnny Jimenez at 7:30pm followed by Rusty Metoyer & the Zydeco Krush at 9:30pm.

On Saturday, Wild Honey hits the stage at 4:30pm followed by Cry Baby at 5:30pm.  Steven John Simon will perform at 7:00 pm.
