Lake Charles and Southwest Louisiana, can you believe that the Chick-fil-A located on Nelson Road in Lake Charles opened 10 years ago? Well, believe it y'all. Where has the time gone?

David Griffin and his wife Kimberly came to Southwest Louisiana with a dream and a vision and boy did they make a quick impact on our community.

Gator 99.5 was at Chick-fil-A Of Lake Charles when they opened their doors on the first day. We were out there to welcome a new business to our community but little did I know that I would meet the owner David and gain a lifelong friend.

David took to his Facebook to celebrate the 10th anniversary.

You know as well as I do if you pull up at Chick-fil-A in Lake Charles and there are a lot of cars in the drive thru it won't matter.  You will be in and out of that restaurant in 10 minutes or less. They are directing traffic and scooting those vehicles through the line so fast your meal is hot and ready to eat.

I have been knowing David and his wife for 10 years and even though David is an Auburn fan (Don't hold that against him), I think we have now converted him and his wife to McNeese Cowboy fans.

David and Kim have become pillars in our community. I don't know if you saw the news last week, but the Griffins just made a huge gift to the McNeese Athletic Foundation to the tune of 2.5 million dollars for the naming rights of the basketball complex.

The new name will be The Legacy Center and the name has a deep meaning for the Griffins as he explained at the press conference.

Happy anniversary to the Griffins and Chick-fil-A Of Lake Charles. We are all glad you're here in Southwest Louisiana. You are now honorary Cajuns!
