Plans are in place to help assist hospitals in the event of them becoming overpopulated with sick patients.

The Evangeline Parish 911 Facebook Page confirmed that Chicot State Park in upper Evangeline Parish has been designated as a potential "Overflow Site" for those sick with COVID-19.

In the event of hospitals within the region becoming overpopulated with patients, some may be sent to the state park for treatment. There, they would be quarantined and treated for COVID-19.

The decision to close the park and turn into a makeshift hospital came down from the state level.

It is important to note here that this is a plan of action and that hospitals are not currently at full capacity.
