Country music star Sammy Kershaw has a big honor coming his way.

The Kaplan City Council voted unanimously to change East Second Street and rename it Sammy Kershaw Street.

Sammy, a native of Kaplan Louisiana, is a huge supporter of his home state and the music that comes from the Bayou state.

A bout a year and a half ago, Sammy Kershaw released an album of great Louisiana Swamp Pop songs where he re did the classics and did duets with the original singers.

The album featured artists like Eddy Raven, Warren Storm, JB Perry, Don Rich, TK Hulin, Charles Mann, Tommy McLain, Willie "Tee" Trahan, and now the late GG Shinn.

He is proud to be from Louisiana and his heritage so to have a street named after him in his home town has got to be a huge honor for him.
