The City Of Lake Charles and the Calcasieu Police Jury have announced closures for the city and throughout the parish starting today.

Katie Harrington with the City of Lake Charles said with the governor of Louisiana's stay-at-home order, the city is taking the following actions.

City services, including public safety, transit, and garbage and trash collection will remain in operation.

Public transit will limit the number of riders on each bus.

Closures that take effect today include all city buildings and facilities, including City Hall, Historic City Hall, Central School, and city recreation centers will be closed to the public beginning at 8:00am today, Tuesday, March 24, 2020.

Laura Heller with the Calcasieu Parish Police Jury announced that closures of parish services will take place starting today.

American Job Center, Animal Services and Adoption Center, and parks and boat launches are open, but park playgrounds are all closed to the public.

Waste Management garbage pickup will be running according to schedule.

Calcasieu Parish residents can log onto the police jury’s website, calcasieuparish.gov, to stay up to date on all parish news and closures.
