City Of Lake Charles Announces New Partners In Parks Events
The first quarter of 2023 will see the City of Lake Charles host a full calendar of Partners in Parks programs. All events, unless otherwise specified, are free, public, and family-friendly.
The calendar kicks off with a Christmas Tree Recycling Drop-off on Saturday, January 6. Live Christmas trees without lights or decorations can be dropped off at the Nelson Road/Alma Lane Recycling Station between 9 a.m. and 3:45 p.m.
It's time to stroll into the New Year with the CHRISTUS Ochsner Health SWLA Community Health Fair on Saturday, January 13. Visit Drew Park between 10 a.m. and noon for essential health information, health exams, and more.
In keeping with the concept of breaking through New Year's resolutions, head to McMillan Park on Saturday, January 20, for Financial Literacy Fun hosted by SWLA Credit Union. Discover the fundamentals of finance in an engaging and participatory approach for the whole family from 10 a.m. to noon.
January will end with an enjoyable exercise of the imagination! Join the City and the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries for a Gator Meet-n-Greet on Saturday, January 27, from 10 a.m. to noon at the Gator Pond, which is situated on North Lakeshore Drive next to the Port Wonder site. While you're there, please assist us in envisioning the Gator Pond's future.
February will swagger its way in with two weekends filled with Mardi Gras festivities! For the third year, Historic City Hall will host a Mask Making Workshop, and there will be a Children's Mardi Gras Stroll. Let's Go Fly a Kite will put our kite-flying prowess to the test, and Sasol's Nature in Focus series, which explores pollinators with a purpose, will wrap up the month!
The Calcasieu Parish Public Library's Book it to the Park program will make its 2024 debut in March, and there will also be a special Team Green Family Fun Day to cap off the first quarter. In 2024, the Region 5 STEM Center will provide a Lesson in Urban Ecology, and SWLA Yoga Fest will stage its event.
