You may or may not know that coming up on June 19th, 2024 is a national holiday. On June 17, 2021, the federal government signed into law making Juneteenth the eleventh American federal holiday. The last federal holiday that was signed into law was back in 1983 when Martin Luther King Jr. Day was designated a federal holiday.

With that being said, On Wednesday, June 19th, 2024 the city of Lake Charles will observe the holiday, and their offices will be closed that day. Kattie Harrington with the city of Lake Charles said,
