It's no secret that things have not gone the way that 2nd year Head Coach Gary Goff and staff had hoped for this season. The Cowboys are off to a 0-8 start with a 1-4 record in conference play after a forfeit conference win from Northwestern State after the Demons forfeited the remainder of the 2023 season.

A bright spot for the Cowboys has been the play of some of the incoming freshmen. Coming into the season, the Pokes had to replace a TON of guys in critical spots while having to bring in over 50 new players to Lake Charles.

When speaking, Coach Goff has been very adamant about trusting the process that the Coaching Staff has put in place. The Pokes are playing a ton of new faces. Spirits have remained well around the program.

On Wednesday at the conclusion of practice, one of the best things to happen all season happened. During a 1-1 drill Coach Goff set up Joshon Barbie and Thomas Miles to go up against each other when he haulted the drill and called the attention of everyone surrounding. Goff expressed how proud he was of what Barbie and Miles have done on and off the field and he announced that the two would be earning a scholarship.

As you can see in the video below, the entire team was fired up for both Joshon Barbie and Thomas Miles.

The Cowboys will take on Houston Christian on Saturday Night in Cowboy Stadium. It will be Senior Night, and the Pokes will honor 6 seniors before the game.
