Concerts & Events In Southwest Louisiana This Weekend Sept. 26-28

[KNGT-FM] -- The weekend is finally here, and several events are going on in the area that may raise your eyebrows. A country legend will be in town, a Louisiana Cajun Grammy Award winner, and a unique style cook-off headline just some of the things going on in the area.

Whether you're looking for a festival-type atmosphere or want to go fill your belly with some food at a cook-off. This weekend will not disappoint. So, what to do this weekend, you ask? Here we go with a list of things going on in Lake Charles and Southwest Louisiana.

Wayne Toups will be live at the Jellystone RV park and resort in Lake Charles Saturday evening for the park's black iron cook-off. Wayne and his band will take the stage under the pavilion at 7:00 pm.  Here are the full details.

Farmers' Markets are going on Saturday morning all across Southwest Louisiana, including Lake Charles and Moss Bluff. Both markets are open from 8:00 am until Noon on Saturday morning. The Lake Charles market is situated behind historic City Hall in downtown Lake Charles. The one in Moss Bluff is located at 325 Sam Houston Jones Parkway. You can shop with the entire family for unique items while also getting fresh fruits and vegetables.

The Allen Joyner Men Wear Pink Wing Cook-off and Day of Music is taking place Saturday, Sept. 27, from 11:00 am to 4:00 pm at Coolers Ice House on Ryan Street in Lake Charles. The event is to raise money for breast cancer. You can expect pink drink specials, raffles, a silent auction with fabulous items to bid on, contests, live music throughout the day, and other fun activities. Country music legend John Anderson will be live at the Golden Nugget's Grand Event Center in Lake Charles on Saturday night. It will be a unique concert as John will be playing acoustically, like sitting on the back porch with him. The show will start at 8:00 pm.
