Lake Charles, LA [KNGT-FM] - If you’ve ever claimed your cracklins are the best in Southwest Louisiana, here’s your chance to prove it. The Cracklin’ Cook-off is rolling into Lake Charles on March 7th, 2026, and it’s shaping up to be one of the tastiest events of the year.

Cooks from across the region will fire up their pots, bring out their secret seasonings, and go head-to-head in a sizzling showdown dedicated to one of Louisiana’s most beloved snacks.

This isn’t just backyard bragging rights on the line. Teams will prepare their signature batches of cracklins for judges who will evaluate flavor, texture, seasoning, and overall presentation.

The event will take place at Jellystone RV Park and Resort in Lake Charles, providing the perfect setting for a full day of food, fellowship, and live entertainment. And speaking of entertainment, the party doesn’t stop at the cook-off.

Registration starts at 9:00 am with cooking beginning at 11:00 am. Turn in food at 3:30 pm, and Judging will take place starting at 4:00 pm.

Grammy Award-winning Louisiana music legend Wayne Toups will take the stage, bringing his high-energy Cajun sound to the festivities starting at 7:00 pm.
