Delta Downs Thoroughbred Season Gets Underway Oct. 10 In Vinton, Louisiana

It's the most exciting time of the year for live sports here in Southwest Louisiana, as live Thoroughbred horse racing gets underway in Vinton, Louisiana, at Delta Downs. Have you ever seen live horse racing before?

It is a sight to see. you won't realize how fast these animals are or the pounding sound you will hear as they race you on the track. If you have never been out to Delta Downs for a race, it is one cool experience.

Delta Downs racetrack is set up to let you get up close and personal during every race. They have an area right in front of the finish line where you can get right up to the fence and be just feet away from the horses as they race by. It is something to experience for sure.

Suppose you are a fan of the Triple Crown which starts with the Kentucky Derby every May. In that case, you may not realize that some of the horses in the Kentucky Derby have raced at Delta Downs, and some of the jockeys who rode those horses in a triple crown race also race at Delta Downs Racetrack in Vinton, Louisiana.

Track Announcer Don Stevens said about the start of the new season,

Delta Downs Racetrack Casino & Hotel will kick off its 2024-25 Thoroughbred season on Thursday night, October 10. The track will begin live racing at 4:50 pm Central Time throughout the season, which runs through February 22.

After the three-day opening week of racing, Thursday through Saturday, the track will go to a Wednesday through Saturday format for much of the season. Exceptions include the weeks of Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year.

So make plans to take an outing to the track for a night of fun and exciting horse racing action.
