Who is Gary Owen?

Gary Owen is a stand-up comedian and actor who became popular by performing comedy on television and in live shows. He started doing stand-up comedy in 1995 while he was serving in the Navy.

Owen says that at first, audiences did not always laugh at his joke, but that quickly changed when he performed in front of a Black audience and found success using the same material. Owen was once called “Black America’s Favorite White Comic” because many fans enjoyed his style of comedy. He became well known after appearing on BET’s Comic View and later acted in movies like Daddy Day Care, Little Man, and College. Owen has also released several comedy specials, including True Story, I Agree with Myself, and Black Famous.
